Exclusive Painting Retreat in the High Desert of Central Oregon!
***Private Bedroom with queen bed on lower level, shared bathroom.***
How sweet is this – an acquaintance I know through business, art and horses wants to give her art-loving sister an artsy vacation as a gift. She asked me if I have any workshops coming up, and said they would love to come visit Central Oregon! Totally flattered! How can I say “no” to these two delightful gals!? Not possible, so I’m doing an art workshop at a private get-away . . . come join us for the fun!
Sunday July 29th, check in after 4pm is required; and there will be a short introduction and a group dinner (depending on everyone’s schedule of arrival). The workshop will be full days, Monday and Tuesday (9-5 with lunch break); You can depart the last day of instruction (ending at 5pm) or stay the night and leave by 10 am on Wednesday, August 1st.
What is it?
My art workshops are for people who want to learn to paint or learn more about painting. We dive in and let go of outside distractions. Starting with different exercises about techniques, “seeing,” and color mixing (what I call “warm ups”) creates a focus for learning. Each day we will work on your own project - quite often completing (or at least nearly) a painting by the end! I use acrylic paint for these lessons.
Experience is not a requirement. Participants range from those who’ve never painted before to seasoned pros. It doesn’t matter. I will meet you where you are. There are always things to learn. The beauty of our small group is that I can give everyone the personalized attention they need.
I’ve secured a house near Sisters Oregon for the participants to stay in! You can do a “staycation” or come from out-of-town. The home is large, very private, peaceful, good lighting and spacious. There is air conditioning, if needed, and it is in a safe area (away from forest fires). There are decks on either side of the house, large windows and a panoramic view of the surrounding mountains. There is a private hot tub, 4 bedrooms, a loft and 2 bathrooms. It will house 6 participants very comfortably (it can host 10 people, so we will have plenty of room). It is about a 1/2 hour drive from Redmond (Redmond has an international airport, RDM, you can fly into with rental cars at the airport) or a 1/2 hour drive to Bend or a 10 minute drive to Sisters.
What do you need?
-Clothes you don’t mind getting paint on.
-An image or images to paint from, which can be color copies/photos of a critter or object (no people for this class).
-A canvas (or board) for your painting. I will have canvases and some boards for purchase, but if you have a specific size canvas you want to paint on, please bring that. We have an art supply store, so if you want something specific, we can probably find it.
-I will supply everything but the canvas to paint on. That includes all the materials (paints, brushes, everything for the “warm-up” exercises, etc.) You are welcome to bring your own acrylic paints/brushes if you want.
What is included in the price?
Pricing includes the painting workshop, materials (except canvas or board), Sunday night dinner, breakfast and lunch and housing.
I will provide food for you to prepare for breakfast and lunch (please tell me if you have dietary needs or preferences and I will provide what I reasonably can). Breakfast will include things like farm fresh eggs, bread, cereals, yogurt, almond milk and fruit. There will be tea and coffee makings. Lunch will be cold cuts, veggies, cheeses, salads and soups. Trail mix and granola bars will be available for snacks. There will probably be enough for you to eat-in for dinner on Monday and Tuesday evenings (soups and salad left-overs), or you could choose to get out, take an evening hike and then dine-out in Sisters or the surrounding area. Sunday night there will be a casual group dinner with me at our “private artist retreat”.
Looking forward to it!
